My name is Kait and I have been working with animal fibers for about 4 years. In 2020, our first two sheep (Flapjack and Cannoli, Romney x Shropshire crosses) were welcomed to the property and spent their first year here as loyal lawnmowers. During the peak of COVID, I decided to learn how to knit using acrylic yarns that I had purchased from local shops. I quickly discovered a newfound love for all things wool, and the joy that homegrown fibers can bring. The ample fleeces from Flapjack and Cannoli are the source of a great deal of my art fibers, and have been used for yarns, wool batting, and felting. I have since branched out beyond knitting to the arts of handspinning, dying fiber, needle felting, and fiber blending in order to provide a wide variety of natural, homegrown products.

Our sheep flock has also expanded to include a sweet Swiss Valais Blacknose wether named Cedric whose beautiful locks are wonderful additions to any knitting or needle felting project. We have also welcomed a blue English Angora rabbit named Midna, whose high micron fiber adds a special softness and loft to blended wools.

The majority of my fiber products are grown right here on the ranch in Connecticut, with the exception of some of the dyed wool I use for accent work in needle felting. Part of the joy of this endeavor is supporting other small business owners, and I am proud to be able to work with local sheep shearers and an in-state fiber mill that is only 20 minutes away.

Creating functional products and artwork from natural fibers has become a great passion of mine.
